how about two different updgrade prices ?
some software companies have a price for the loyal user, who buys  
EVERY release and so honor this customer in another way, than the  
customers, which only buy every third release.
in the end it may be the same income for macromedia, but honor the  
loyal customer and attract the customers which missed to buy D9 or D10.

jsut a thought, not at all my business... ;-)
