Hence the following comment:

"Have you checked to ensure that after calling addToWorld() the model
really is in the world and in a place/configuration that should cause it
to be rendered?"

Note the "a place/configuration", rootNode changes fall under my broad
and blanket use of "configuration". :P But yes, that would be something
of interest if rootNode changes are taking place as addToWorld() puts
the model in the world but as a child of the world group, that may not
be the same "location" (parent/child location) as it was before. Good
lookin' out Ben.
